Headed out for 1st leek harvest.

Friend called wants to get some strong leeks for making some dip. So off we go to dig some.. this time of year they are so strong you can smell someone digging them a mile away....

I hope you gather as many as you can. I have a good friend who gathers them every Spring and makes pickled leeks. His recipe is for a sweet and hot mix. They are absolutely delicious and I look forward to getting some from him every year.       valoroutdoors.com

Early for us up here to go. Usually primetime here is second week of May. Last time I went I got eight quarts of them. I put them with Italian dressing in canning jars and seal with my vac sealer. Goes great with venison tenderloin and steaks.

Seems early for leeks here Dogpatch...My garlic in my raised bed is only peeking up a couple of inches

I have over 30 acres of them I only take a few at a time this was maybe a quart of them

Nice young and hot! 

Personally I like them when bulbs are large and mild. But he's making the dip the way he likes it.
