Addison got hit pretty hard, albeit not as bad as Elmira...I lost a 12" diameter fir tree...Broke off and landed on the neighbor's house .Fortunately not much damage...My yard is full of limbs, uprooted lilac bushes, etc..Gonna have a busy morning here with the chain saw.. My boat was under a big locust..Fortunately no big limbs came down on it.

Others were not so fortunate...Several large trees down on houses..One friend of mine has a big maple down on his new truck. All you can see is the back bumper.

Straight line wind damage or tornado?

Straight line here, although I saw a cell phone picture of a funnel cloud just west of the village... It came blasting through very fast..all the damage occured in about two minutes.

Thanks, Growie...

I'm always careful with a chainsaw...The things scare the CRAP out of me and I hate running them, but I surely appreciate the labor they save.

I was running my Stihl 026 yesterday at my uncle's cabin and had a scary deal........we were cutting up some tops after my uncle had some logging done and it was towards the end of the day. I was tired and got sloppy. I just finished cutting up an 10' log into bite size pieces, stood up and the last log started rolling down hill. I went to kick it and the top of my left leg brushed up against the still barely spinning chain. A 3" tear in my pants gave me quite a scare. Damn......................

Geeze, Larry... Don't DO s**t like that !!!..

I was cutting firewood in the winter years ago with a friend..He was running the saw and I heard him say " Uh-Oh.."

He had a cut in his carharts right across his knee...

I said .." Check it out..If it's serious I'll help you..If it's NOT serious, I don't want to see it "...

He peeled off the carharts..His jeans were cut....However his longjohns were just FRAZZLED..No cuts on the skin..SCARY, but we lucked out..

Scary alright.......

I hate close calls!

I'll be checking out chaps. I really enjoy running a saw but don't burn any wood myself. I've owned my own saws for almost 35 years, doing odd jobs for friends & family. I would cut wood for free anytime!!

Closest close call in a long time.

When we had our place logged the loggers cut down all the tops....they said that the most wood cutting accidents happen with owners cutting tree tops....unpredictable movement when cutting limbs...more than once I've barely escaped a leg break or possible impaling from cutting up the tops of trees I drop...always have that logger in the back of my mind....

By the way went to Corning today....Dang.....truck after truck ....ect coming in from the north head that way..all bucket trucks...name started with an N..Nor...something...all white trucks with green lettering...clean up and power I would think...saw a lot of NYSEG trucks as well

If your scared of the saw put it down. You have to respect it and being afraid of one is not a good thing. Be safe chaps, helmet, eye and ear protection are a lot cheaper than one trip to the ER and less painful as well. Never cut over your head. Take an operator safety course. Lawdaz you come on over and cut all my wood you want LOL Im getting sick of it. Between the 13 full cords for syrup and the 15 full cord for the house every year it sure gets old in a hurry. Skid, cut, split, stack it never ends.
