2.5yr or 3.5yr?

Let me know what you guys think - is this guy a 2.5yr old or 3.5yr old? This one is getting the arrow regardless, but just curious as to everyone's opinion. Kind of a bizzarre rack, but really the first decent buck I have picked up on my cam so far.

Hard to tell. His chest appears a little small for a mature buck. maybe he is not all puffed up yet.

that is what I think as well. Notice he is out a 1:30 in the morning. I caught him again today at 2:30am. If he makes it to 3.5 he will be a bruiser. Problem is that there is a ton of hunting pressure where I hunt.

if he makes next season he will be a very nice deer, not that he is not now but one more year will do him very well.

Why even guess how old he is? What's the difference?

Until he is on the ground, you'll never know. Even then, aging a deer is very difficult.

If you knew for sure he was 2.5yrs old, would you let him walk?

At 130 and 230 a.m. he may not even be close to your ground come hunting hours.

Put him on the ground! Then the DEC will give you an idea.
