Summit Viper to a Goliath or Titan

I am thinking of giving my son my Summit Viper climbing stand and treating myself to a new Summit. I am looking at the Goliath or the Titan. I know there is a size difference between the two. I know that the Goliath is a bit bigger than the Viper and that the Titan is bigger than the Goliath. I would like the little bit of extra room they both have but was wondering if the size difference and weight is worth it for the Titan. I know its more expensive than the Goliath. Just wondering if anyone out there has upgraded from a Viper to either of these stands. I appreciate any info. Thanks, Rich

I had a Goliath and liked it enough but had a problem getting both hands into mycoat pockets at the same time when cold. I did a little research and ended up with a awesome stand, the Treewalker. Made in USA and built very well. IIRC this will be my third season with it and I've killed a bunch of deer from it.

The problem I had with the Summit was solved and much more! Light, secure, quiet, fast & easy to set up.

Not cheap but well worth every penny.

dont mean to get off topic here but what is the appeal of the viper tree stands? i was sitting in my primetime light tree stand today which i paid $130 brand new at the store. it is light weight and very comfortable. i know that the vipers are 6 lbs heavier. to top it all off..they are $250-300!!! can someone explain???

Is that made by Field and Stream???? We just had a member of this website fall from a Field and Stream stand I believe. I only go with Summit because I've had my Viper for about 12 years now and they are well made stands. Makes me feel safe up in it so the extra money they cost is well worth it to me.

I have the primetime lite and can't say enough about it. I'm 260 any it is very stable. Although I did just order the HSS life line after reading some of the posts on here. I did switch out the seat on my primetime lite to the summit surround seat. Most comfortable seat I've ever had. Compatible with most climbers.

I decided to go with the Goliath. It only weighs 1lb more than my Viper and I get a little extra room. Ordered it and hope to have it by the weekend. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I have the Goliath and I weigh between 330-340lbs. It seems very sturdy and the seat is comfortable.

The aluminum Vipers are lighter than the primetime lite by 1 pound. I just bought a Viper SD which is 20lbs. There's a Viper that is 16 lbs but has a lower weight rating. The steel Vipers are 26 lbs. Now I have both a Viper SD and a Primetime Lite with a bent platform (see the post about the stand giving out). The Viper is constructed much, much better. The sound deadening technology of the Summit SD stands is great. All of the connections are welded on the summit. The Primetime is bolted together which leaves the possibility of things loosening or creaking.
