i was thinking this this morning after not seeing crap on the edge of the swamp.I got my idea where i am headed now.

arrow nocker, Did you go into their bedding area .If you did , how are you making out? I know that is were I go this time of year and see deer moving everyday. I am sure that if the swamp is were the does are bedding you will see more deer.

Really its not that hard fellas do your pre-season scouting hang your stands early, But when the rut hits you just have to do some in season scouting and bring a stand when you do, If you jump a buck and there is a doe with him, set up a stand near where he stops to check his back trail, do it during the day and bring a buddy with you and make lots of noise while wearing street clothes, watch were he goes don't get down and try to be sneaky, And guess what that deer thinks you are a another stupid human that means him no harm, sit that stand that night and get ready for some action, I guarantee you will get a shot if he doesn't smell you, as far as trying to pick a stand i just do enie-meenie minie-mo any other time, But really wear street clothes jump a buck watch were he goes and hang a stand, Ive done it for 3 years in a row and each year have got the buck i wanted to shoot,

If deer are color blind as reported, how will they differentiate my hunting clothes from my street clothes?

i went in the thickes part in my land.right between two thick patches of pines loaded with popalar and saplings.Found a tree climbed it and had like one shooting lane.I said this is the place right here.Saw nothing.LOL.Buuuuuut i set a stand in there nestled into an old maple for my boy to sit in during opening day with his bow.good 20 yd shots all three ways. But he may not make it out sat due to an accident.Lets see.If i have to carry him in i will.LOL.

I'm more concerned about the way my street clothes smell, But if they are color blind how do they manage to pick us out, wait its by ultra violet light? And if we buy special sprays and laundry detergents we can hide this, Its a wonder why people even where camo if it doesn't matter and the deer can see us? Now i would like to think that with all the colors that are in the woods, Why would mother nature make deer color blind? Ive seen a fawn one time running through a field playing with the squirrels and every time that little fawn would come to a yellow flower he would stop and smell it, Now if your color blind you cant see yellow, red or green. I'm not sure? I'm lucky and can see in color, If they are color blind why can you sit in your stand and watch deer eat the red maple leaves off the ground as they wonder through the woods is it possible they recognize the shape? Or is it by the way they smell? I don't know, , I have read the research and compared to humans they are lacking rods or some shit in their eyes so there for they cant see in color, But what if you believe in evolution and in that case why are deer brown and white? If they are color blind it wouldn't matter because they couldn't tell anyway and wouldn't have been able to breed out undesirable colors! So i'm going to continue believing that they can see a lot more colors than most people believe and until i can look through their eyes and see for myself i wont believe any of it, Now the one thing you can watch out for is the nose now that is a very powerful defensive weapon for them, But some smells they are so used to that they just don't care if they smell it now again. And that's the questions i have about deer being color blind, And my opinion of that topic, :fie: Good luck hunting

Deer are not exactly color blind, they just see colors differently than we do. They see yellows and reds as greys, but they do see the blues pretty well. It all has to do with the cones and rods in their eyes, and the way to figure out what set of cones and rods in the eye picks up what colors is a scientific process thats been proven by studying the cones and rods in people that are color blind to certain colors. BTW, not all people are color blind the same, its usually different levels and can happen with different colors.

They also did not consciously breed out different colors of deer, thats not how evolution works. The deer that could camouflage themselves best lived longer and bred more often, and as a result, their genes became more prevalent.

playing wind and patterns is all you can do. it's still a crap shoot sometimes. i started keeping a jornal using an iphone app last year and that helps too, but i need another 2 or 3 years of entries to really make is useful. We have one spot with 2 stands withing 50 yards of each other. they cover a bunch of runs in a funnel. there's been many times where we've chosen the wrong one and kicked ourselves.

it's called "the journal" haha. you can probably find it by searching "deer journal" in the store. the reason i want more years is because you can input activity at each stand at each time. it syncs to moon phases and temperature. the more data the more accurate, although there are so many other variables like other hunters, when the farmers cut the corn etc.
