Pistol permit interview today at 2pm

I've had this appointment with Nassau County PD since Nov. 2011. The date is finally here, not sure how much longer it will take to actually get my permit from here. All I want is to target/hunt with a pistol in NY. It seems my 2nd ammendment provides me with the right to apply and wait. I guess this hunting season will pass me by without a sidearm.

Had the interview and fingerprinting Now I should have my permit within 6 months. Yippee!

Would love a pistol license but the renewal cost is become too prohibitive for me to get one. Damn you NY!

why was your appointment so long in the distant future? usually when you get the call the interview is made for a few weeks out. why did they put you off for months? maybe Nassau is different?

Nassau is different My buddy just got his permit, there was a 4 month delay from the interview till the issuance

The guy next to me at the counter was putting in his application, they gave him a fingerprint appointment for June 15

Never had to interview up here in CNY. Did take 9 months total though.

9 Months start to finish in Erie county.

I got mine about 30 years ago. 6 weeks from start to finish for my consealed carry. Times have changed.

NY has the most ridiculous gun laws thanks to all those liberal half heads that call themselves politicians there. NY is one of the few states that does not reciprocate with my NC concealed carry permit.

I have had my permit 18 years and it took close to a year with the class and paper work.

PA the day after my 21st birthday I walked in with the filled out application and 30 mins later walked out with my concealed carry permit. It ridiculous the closer you live to the city where the likelyhood of needing a gun for self defense the harder it is to get. Criminals with illegal guns have less hastle then and honest person.
