  1. Many years ago a friend hit a deer on his way home from work. He threw it in the trunk and drove home. He opened the trunk to show his wife and the deer jumped out and ran away.
  2. Reading all your notes makes me kind of glad to be old. When I got my pistol permit about 40 years ago I think it took a month start to finish.
  3. Welcome and glad to have another Central New Yorker with us.
  4. Our dog came from Kansas City so we named her "KC". (Pronounced Casey). Easy to say and a nice play on words. Once had a beagle named "Sunday" because we picked her up on a Sunday plus she looked like a butterscotch sundae.
  5. Retired with 43 years. Now I refurbish little green tractors and go hiking everyday. On sunny warm days I go hunting.
  6. Elite Guns is on Rte 11 in North Syracuse down near Geddis bakery area on the other side of the street. They are mostly military guns and have everything under glass. There is a big shop on route 5 just past Camillus near the Carpenters Brook fish hatchery. They have LOTS of nice stuff.
  7. I was hunting in the TugHill area again yesterday. No deer signs; however I did see a green Deere working in a field. Sure was a beautiful fall day to be out and enjoy nature.
  8. No, I did not go out today. I have hunted the northern zone most of my life but just haven't seen any deer up there this season. Kind of discouraged and will wait until southern zone to go out again with my rifle.
  9. Is bow hunting allowed on the island?
  10. I got mine about 30 years ago. 6 weeks from start to finish for my consealed carry. Times have changed.
  11. I am from upstate New York and most of our deer are green up here! How big is Staten Island? I was there once when I got on the wrong boat and wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty.
  12. I like the .270 as well. Very flat shooting rifle without a big recoil.

    Who would

I will be out there too. We are all meat eaters in my family, the antlers make poor soup.
  14. I agree with "Growalot" never wash it. I was watching TV one day and Martha Stewart was cooking with cast iron and she cleaned it with sea salt and a paper towel.
  15. I have seen a site like this called "QUIBIDS". Never used it just checked out.
  16. OK, thanks. I will check it out next time I am up there.
  17. So if I click the "bid" button do I win the auction and pay just pennies for the item? That cannot be possible to buy the item for just pennies. NYDeere
  18. Tughillhunter, I go by an elk farm on Hadley Road when going deer hunting at lake view. Is this the same family or are there 2 elk farms?? NYDeere
  19. Tell me more about the "Zombies",, do they have a season? My M1 carbine can get 15 of them Zombies.
  20. I totally understand and totally support the law on baiting, but must ask, how is BUCK LURE or other sexual attractants for deer different than baiting with a bucket of corn? (By the way, I don’t use either when hunting).
  21. I saw one grouse while deere hunting this fall in the Northern Tier, but not 1 rabbit.
  22. When I lived in Cloumbus Ohio, (1.5 million people) I was stopped a stop light one day and a deer almost jumped into the window of the car ahead of me. It kicked itself loose and ran away into a parking lot of shopping mall. Crazy deer.
  23. I have not seen any rabbit tracks lately either. Most years we have about 4 cotton tails in the back yard but none this year. We have seen fox tracks in the snow in the lot behind our house. When I was a kid there were quite a few snowshoe rabbits but none now. I think we all need to hunt the wild dogs.
