wanting to do a food plot...but

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I am thinking of putting in a food plot on my Dad's land. He has a nice patch of land that is a nice pass through area for deer. But they really dont stay in that area, so the hunting can be good one year, and dead the next. The area I'd like to plant in though, has beef cattle that roam ( large upper end of a cow pasture).

Has any made any plots and made them as cow proof as possible? I know its tough to keep them out of an area.

Thanks for any input, trying to come up with different ways to hunt this land.

Ok, with the fence "issue" aside, know nothing about them in terms of what to plant. I'd like it to be as low maintenance as possible. What are some good seeds to plant that will yield food that will either bloom all year long…or a mixture of 2 or 3 things that will allow for different blooms through out the year, and also is stable in the NYS region? My Dad has a small farm tractor with a "plow" set-up, so we are good there….just need some advice on what to plant for "beginners".

Thanks.
