phade
A few people here have planted it this year. I've ordered from Welter in the past, but usually large-ish orders as compared to now. Looking to plant radish in a smaller plot. I know shipping often kills w/Welter. How much did you pay for the shipping costs? A few places have deer on a bag daikon radish seed for $20 for a 1/4 acre. Probably not worth going through Welter with shipping, but figured I'd check. Only need a couple pounds. growalot
Phade.... how far from Hemlock are you?... The Hemlock Agway carries radish and now a days if you ask your local feed/seed stores you'll find they are now carrying common plot seeds...You could give them a call...They are open on Saturdays...make a fishing trip out of it and hit Hemlock lake or jump up the Honeyoe(sp?) while your out that way
phade
Ah, thanks for the suggestion Grow. Not too far from Hemlock. Our nearby feed/seed/co-ops are insane for seed prices, which is highly unsual. Higbies is the closest one to me, and they wanted 5-7x the cost for Daikon. They must not stock it for some reason. I'll hit up that Agway then!
growalot
You'll find most all NYS prices high because like us they have to tack on the shipping costs...unlike the mid west NY doesn't have the seed production...unlike us thought, the price per # is cheaper for them because of volume....Look up Turner Agway the phone # will be listed and the guys there are very good about finding what you want and doing split bags....and per pound prices...they have a lot of plotters that go to them...They sell Milorganite as well and WTI seed. landtracdeerhunter
Welters charged me $30 shipping for 60#. Their is an Amish seed company in Honeyoye Falls that I want to try this year, soon as I find their name.
growalot
Put a call into Turner Agway..I bought mine from them last year...buying that much may even get you a better price than what I got..which don't ask...for I suffer from some timers....
