Hunting book suggestions?

Just read meat eater and American buffalo by Steven Rinella and really liked them. Does anyone have any suggestions for similar books?

I enjoy bill heavey's articles on the back page of f&S. he has a book called "if you didn't bring jerky, what did I just eat?" It is a collection of his back page articles plus some extras.

Jack O'connors Big Game hunts is one of my favorite reads, with stories of his trips throughout the world, but one of my all time favorite books is "Horn of the Hunter", by Robert Ruark. He writes of his first safari, and you  feel like you are there with him, and he is splendid company.

Elmer Keiths  "Hell, I Was There" is his biography, from infancy in Montana at the turn of the century (18th to 19th), growing up cowboying, hunting and shooting, guiding, and his adventures hunting around the world. Great stuff.

If you liked those two then read Rinella's other book.  A Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine.  It was very entertaining.

My favorite hunting book is "Shots at Whitetails" by lawrence Koller. It isan older book and is available on E-bay, Amazon. Very informative book about deer hunting with most of it taking place from Windsor, NY down to the Catskill Area. It's worth every penny you spend on it, I've bought several of them to give to family & friends back there in New York.

 

There isone story in his book where he shot a deer, I was hunting down in the Damascus NY area about twenty years ago and found the same situation that he wrote about. I retraced his foot-stepsand shot a nice eight point buck.

 

I highly recommend this book if you hunt deer in the southern zone of New York.
