coming along?...I've been so busy I'm a month behind...usually the stands are all checked and re strapped and or put up...the brush blinds have been reinforced and built back up shooting lanes cut...not a thing done!...even the shooting house need some TLC...I opened the windows of the blind I built last year...raccoon found his way in and crapped on my rug!...I have mentioned I hate raccoons right?...so I need to get that cleaned and vacuumed...the deck "door" to the cardboard blind needs a repair..but no biggy and thanks to no truck or Van...I'm at the mercy of MrB for new ladder wood...poor guys under the gun right now at work so treading lightly ....Because I don't trust the guys I need to go to camp this week and check all their stands...none of them will wear a harness.. :fie: ...Today I'm putting on the new HSS vest and checking all wooden stands and tightening ladder stands...putting up some climbing safety ropes as well...almost glad that the JD mower is in for a cleaning and the Dr. is at the shop waiting on parts...gives me some free time...Well got to run...blue berries and beans to pick first...Oh man...the peaches are on the verge of ripening....

Be safe  and don't climb with out a harness......

Yep...the guys drive me nuts!! none like height so they think a fall from 8-10 is nothing...well with luck at 20 it may not have been...but none of us are even close to that now...I have the tallest stands there and it scares  me to think they are using them(of course they taught our son to be foolish) ...I've left a harness at camp and told them they had to use it to hunt my stands...hhhmmm ya sure they do.....I've removed stands because of it...I take my climber down and my chair blind down when I go

Stands.. what are those? I haven't even begun, but I don't stress over it at all. If I just get to hunt, I'll consider myself lucky. I play the ground game alot in the bow woods, so I move around and often find myself in the gnarliest of thickets on a buck super-highway, sitting motionless behind a bush.

My dad and I spent an evening doing some recon and the 9 bucks we watched feeding in the plot boosted my confidence! A few scrub bucks, a few with potential and 2 nice 8 points. I don't hunt it much though, I like to leave them for him so he can hunt on his 1 day off per week.

I can hardly wait for the sweet smell in the air. Just like every year, as season draws closer I can feel excitement welling up inside of me. It can be compared to a good buzz!

Phade ...I'm really afraid of raccoon...I've had to wait rabies testing 2x's and one was just a long bizarre situation ...that ended with the firing of a Vet and a real possibility I could have died...so no I won't handle a raccoon hide .... They could be worth 200.00 apiece and I wouldn't handle them

..... it changes alot of peoples minds on wearing harnesses

+1

I fell 20' 4 years ago and still suffer everyday! Still recovering from surgery #3 (last Dec.). I always wore a harness while hunting. But, one day, I made an unexpected trip to camp to check cams before season and thought while I was there, I'd run out and check stands too, so I could check that off my list. Didn't end well.................
