Overwhelmed

As the seasons gets closer I am continuing to get pictures of shooter bucks on my properties. This is the time of the year where the reality of hunting these bucks begins to come full circle and the second guessing of everything begins. Stands you wish you could now move, that one ridge you wish you hadn't skipped scouting, and the 100's of other variables you wish you had taken into consideration, or that you are aware of and have no good answer for them. Im so pumped to get things started but boy can your mind be brutal on ya when the leaves start to change!!

Yes and today the mercury topped 90 degrees. Not exactly the kind of weather that helps you do any of those things. I even skipped practice today. Can't stand shooting with sweat running down in my eyes....lol. I do have other stand locations to work out and I can always use more scouting. But even in retirement, time still is a precious commodity. I am beginning to wonder if they really did do us any favors by opening up bow on October first. It's going to take a year or two to get used to it.

i've learned to careless about getting a deer, i know my property and hang stands in the natural funnels. i pass many bucks and lots of does. i just enjoy seeing them. Getting one is a bonus. not hard to do.. would of broken 100 in a few years if i fill all my tags like i use to. now that number is meaningless to me. i just enjoy myself and am much happier for it and success seems to follow regardless.
