nyantler
ju12/13- The question of what triggers the rut is bogus! Does in estrus are the final trigger of the rut, not photoperiod. You can have short days but if there aren't any estrus does then you have no rut. Plus having more than one possible correct answer is a crock, or is that why I didn't do better on my SATs years ago? You are correct Sam... but photoperiod is what triggers does to go into estrus as well... and once the days become short there will always be a doe somewhere coming into estrus... hence the reason that the rut doesn't just happen for a day or two, but extends for a period of time... sometimes many weeks... 13 of 13.. although I can tell the difference between a buck and a doe track... if you follow them long enough Edited November 13, 2013 by nyantler
