i stuck between hunting a corn field opening day or a thick ravein .....and does anyone know if hunting a staging area is a good idea last year i saw the deer atop a little dug out hole on the other side of the field and waiting there till dark they seem very comfortable there and i feel like it would be my only chance to get a shot at one

That "dug out hole" is it the low spot to the field?

 

Deer will often enter in field low spots because of thermals dropping the scent down to them and because it offers visual protection.

I would think that hunting an area where deer gather would be a good idea. Get set up upwind, and in some cover and see what happens.
