NeverSeenNorHeard
The other option which I tried and didn't like with a mount like mine is to set it up to shoot 1.5" right at 100 and it will always be 1.5" right from point of aim. Parallel lines. yea, its an imprecise science however you do it. Probably why I don't own that setup anymore...

eagle rider
Thanks Borngeechee, It looks like a great set up. Perfect for swamp donkeys.
Borngeechee
Yeah I like it a lot. I never thought having a red dot so far forward would be as good as it is but it's super fast on target. I'm setting up my 45-70 the same way. Both guns I don't plan on shooting past 100 yards, so this is perfect for the red dot and better than iron sights by a mile.

moog5050
Nice set up geechee. I just finished throwing a leupold fx-II 4x on my henry 30-30 lever. Love how light and nimble it feels in comparison to my other rifles.
Larry
I use a Marlin in 444 and love it. The 30-30 has killed more deer than any other round you can't go wrong with it.
eagle rider
On the red dot, how much hunt time do you get out of the battery?
Borngeechee
Eagle rider you can leave it on for days and it won't die. They really use a tiny amount of power. Edited August 3, 2014 by Borngeechee
Elmo
I have a red dot on my shotgun. So many times I had small game or crows fly by, I raise my shotgun, and realize I had the red dot turned off.
eagle rider
New Bushnell Trophy Red Dots' has adaptive lighting technology. Sights automatically adjust diode intensity to balance for natural light. Also serves to extend battery life.
