Tips for washing clothes

The dryer sheets seemed to work well.  Never changed the lint catcher, but it makes sense.  If I had the time, I'd let them dry naturally, but with all the people in my house doing laundry and all the difference scents, better off drying em quick and putting them away.

i try and clean out the fabric softener dept ahead of time and of course the lint filter in the dryer anyhow. We have front loaders so there's very little detergent anyhow.

I have the front loaders as well. Same process but I run a quick wash cycle with hot water and a bit of the scent free soap on an empty washer before I load them up.

they make drier sheets that have a cover scent.  i forget the brand, but i bought them a dicks and i've seen them in walmart.

some swear by it, but i have trouble with cover scent. I don't want anything foreign even if it's pine, apple or earth. My philosophy is scent free is better than anything else.

The trick is exactly what Culver mentioned. Get washer & dryer cleaned of any detergents, scented laundry soaps &/or UV brighteners before washing hunting clothing. I have a couple of bath towels dedicated to my scent-free showers, so I run those thru washer with a 2nd rinse cycle and then into dryer first. Then all your hunting clothing. Probably never got washer & dryer completely "decontaminated", unless you have the luxury of a dedicated washer/dryer specifically for hunting clothing. I use the earth scented dryer sheets & never had a problem with deer picking up my scent, that I'm aware of!?! "Scent-free" is one of those topics that you're either a minimalist or overly OCD about it, to each his own! Other option is to never wash hunting clothing, simply put a couple handfuls of corn in the jacket pockets every time you hunt... :fie:  Just kidding!
