Hunted dark - dark with my Dad yesterday and today in Putnam County (3N). Very warm, some rain, very slow.

Yesterday combined we saw 3 deer (1 tiny spike, 1 doe, and 1 my Dad couldn't tell buck or doe). Each of us passed the same tiny spike about 20 minutes apart. I had him at literally 7 yards. Recently, started getting him on trail cam pics so he must be a local resident now. Heard shots were definitely much less than years past. Only heard 3 in the morning and maybe 10 throughout the rest of the day.

Today combined we saw 6 does and only heard 1 shot all day. All 6 does could have been shot easily (less than 40 yards).

Slowest opening weekend in many years for us.  I'll be back out there next Saturday & Sunday, my Dad will be there all week dark - dark.

While I was at work today, my Dad hunted dark - dark. Super windy, he saw 1 big deer at 1030am, couldn't tell buck or doe. Only a matter of time before the bucks start moving. Hopefully Saturday when I'm out there.

While I was at work, my dad hunted dark - dark for the 6th day in a row. From 820am - 1030am he watched this freaky buck (see pic) bedded down, take a nap, stand up, bed down, etc. at 90yards. He said this bucks neck is swelled up. Next my Dad still hunted the middle of the day and saw a big deer quartering going over a knoll at 12pm, easy shot but the head was down. Although my Dad has a dmp, he didn't want to risk shooting just a doe. It went out of sight, so my Dad snuck around and spotted it again 30min later, but again couldn't tell buck or doe before it went out of sight. Nothing the rest of the day. 1 more day to wait for me till I hunt Saturday.

Hunted dark - dark with my Dad. I saw no deer. My dad saw 3. He saw a doe at 730am being followed by another deer, but couldn't tell what the 2nd deer was. Then he saw a 1pt buck at 1215pm, spike on 1 side and nothing on the other side. The slow season continues.

My Dad and I hunted this morning till 1030am. Wind was brutal. I saw nothing, my Dad saw a doe at 8am. The worst season ever continues for us we got over 25 bucks combined in 20 years on this 8 acre property, this year has been horrible. I did find a fresh buck rub today. I put my cam back out there to see if anything is moving after hours. I'll check it tomorrow midday, plan to hunt dark to dark tomorrow. If nothing again, might try state land Saturday.

Hunted dark to dark. Neither of us saw anything. Getting absurd at this point. However, about 4 houses before we park in the morning, we have a nice 100"+ 8 pointer walk in front of our truck at 545am. It walked right into the woods about 1/4 mile from where we hunt.

Hunted dark - dark on public DEP land. Neither of us saw anything. My dad saw a black squirrel. We did wicks and estrous bottles and ground blinds everywhere. I won't be back out till Saturday. My Dad will be out all week, probably back to private land tomorrow.

I've hunted Lockwood before with my father the past 2 years. Haven't went there this year, have been hunting private land. I didn't really like Lockwood, Thanksgivings are very crowded, there isn't a whole lot of deer sign and not very many shots fired off.
