Best Places to Hunt in the Southern Zone

Interested in purchasing a plot of land for myslef and have only hunted up in Colombia county since day 1. The deer hunting up there is great in my opinion but it lacks options as there is no bear and small game is very scarse. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for vacant land that would offer the best selection of game and also has good hunting? Just looking for vacant land not interested for a house yet but would like to put something up in the future. I live in the city so somewhere that is easily drivable Friday after work and then come home Sunday distance wise. Thanks for all suggestions and help. Thanks!

I would  recommend Delaware County. Its 3 to 3 1/2 hrs from Brooklyn. Decent bucks and a wide variety of wild game. You can still get a decent plot of land at a reasonable price. I'd hurry up though, over the last 5 years the NYC DEP has bought up a lot of the old farms. Which is great if you want to hunt more land. However say good bye to your own food plots and hello to pressured hunting.

Windham ... lots of state land nearby and Bear !  Hunter Mountain maybe ?

That place on 206 is near my place it's 50 acres 5 acre field old camper the rest is wooded and goes to the top of the hill and borders state land 169K There's pine trees on it that generates $3,000 / year at Christmas time.

Southern Chenago or Otsego county along the Susquehanna.  Good ducks geese and deer.  There is still crop farming and rabbits actually live there.  There are farms and wood available and if they Governor ever gets his head out of his  butt.....a gas lease will take the sting out of the the purchase. There wil be money for large food plots.  It's still close enough to make it a true weekend place.  Good luck
