Geno C
Yes I've saw you write a few times that you picked up on a location from a pic. I get that it's not unlikely but giving out more info then you should is shame on the hunter. Who jots maps out and takes pics with say a land mark in the background. Like a specific barn or water tower in the background? I'm sure if one is doing something like that then it wouldn't be far fetched at all. But if I take a pic of a 200" deer while on my driveway or in my garage you telling me someone will find out where I hunt? Shoot if they could id like to meet em. Some guys post big deer some don't... But if a guy shoots a 200 class buck and doesn't say a word about it and doesn't think twice nor cares to show a pic or tell a story about it and he's fine with it then so be it, he really doesn't care he may have shot a record and he's fine with no one knowing. But if a guy shoots it and send pics to buddies and tells a close group of people and would still enter the buck if it's a possible record then it tells me he's not all that secretive about it. I can understand your spot tho on not wanting to post a pic of someone else's deer. But I don't think others are just like you that may have a pic like that. jMO
BUCKANDAQUARTER
I am not trying to play devils advocate but... I have got some decent deer out of this one particular area. I have ran into several guys this year alone that have seen my car and seen me and say "hey you hunt up off of such and such rd don't you?" In addition to that another guy I know got permission to hunt a parcel that boarders where I have hunted for years. I would walk thrugh fire to hunt that land. He has seen the bucks I have gotten out of there, and somehow he got in an "in" with the psycho owner and is blasting the deer before they make it off her land to mine. I can say I am a bit jealous now he is knocking down 200#ers. I would be very wary of posting pics on FB around here. Again that is just me in my situation. I live in a small town, full of hunters. Just thought of another example I drove up to Stewart's one year with a big buck in the back and it took me an hour to leave because people were striking up conversations, and again "oh I've seen your truck parked on ... RD."
phade
theres a saying loose lips sink ships. but the end of the saying was dropped in vernacular eons ago. the full saying is loose lips sink ships and im the cannon. you can make a case about posting a hanging deer in your garage but im telling you, people can and will find out more info than you want to share. people who dont know you but know an acquaintance can pull gobs of info...like say a husband of your wifes co worker. its not fun to have it happen to you.I dont even tell the landowner the deer I shoot there because I dont want to lose the lease. heck one time I overlapped an acquaintances hunting ground by accident, sending a couple letters to the landowners. I merely carpet bombed the area with letters and didnt know he hunted there. if I did I wouldnt have sent those ones out. he came knocking on my door freaking out. he lost sleep over it. but he also kills very big deer and im sure people probably move in on him on purpose. Five Seasons
Posting a picture of your buck without a location would be my recommendation. When you start posting maps and stuff... Well you're asking for it. What's this website you guys are talking about?

Five Seasons
Not sure if this is the one, but here's the link to the deer I was talking about: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=733176363377322&set=a.210081199020177.67327.206862056008758&type=1&theater That's a nice buck but I hate that angle camera shot. Geno C
I hear ya.. I know the routine is the same on the island. It can happen to anyone but unless you literally tell not a living soul, it's something that may happen soon or later. You basically said it, anyone can pull info. So there is no difference from posting a pic sometimes or telling a select few friends. Your buddies may keep secrets but their wives may not. I see you post a slammer here n there but what is the difference of posting say a 130-140 from your TC vs a 160? When I say I don't get the pic thing that's basically what I'm getting at. Why post one and not the other, you know? Don't think I'm ranking on ya or being a tool, I just literally want to know. Maybe it's somehing I'm not thinking about or over looking. I mean I can post big deer all day but the thought of someone doing something to degrade my spot or find it just doesn't cross my mind all that much but the the chance someone else has that deer on cam does. But even in that instance deer are roamers... If someone else has that deer on cam it could be 3 miles away, odds of them finding me or my truck on the exact day I'm in the woods is slim to none. Likely? Sure but the odds are not in their favor... Just askin is all. I mean that thread about that Ohio world record, heck yeah I can see not posting that SOB lol. nyantler
listen, you are barking up the wrong tree. its not my place to post the pic. did I say it was a record? no. so go pound sand somewhere else where you can cry about not knowing about the buck because its not on your horn porn site. plus who cares thaf its about the deer and not the hunter. bottom line is today people who blab about their deer have issues. your fb page is full of comments - where was it shot? was it shot on redman rd? and so on and so on. the impact on the hunter may be more than he or she is willing to tolerate. your site is a perfect example actually. Wow you must have a guilty conscience.. I wasn't even referring to you.. I was just using your sentence as a lead in to my comment. As for the rest of your nonsense I'll just chalk that up to your defensive nature... funny too you didn't have any problem writing a novel about your buck this year.. even apologizing a bit because it wasn't as big as you would normally take... maybe you're right, people who blab about their deer may have issues. nyantler
the fb page has alot more volume of deer fap fap fap material. have to include some info such as county. but its the comments that usually end result in the problems ive stated. The info is there for a reason... so that crap like this doesn't happen... the info given insures that the deer can be verified as legit... there is no ambiguity... the only reason not to offer up the info would be if you have something to hide... most hunters don't have the crazy paranoia that you seem to have... must make for a lot of anxiety for you during hunt season. phade
yes I did. and I retract that. writing about kills and not giving info is one thing. posting state class deer...another topic.

I bet hes not happy about your site leading to the exact rd the buck was shot on. a county is fine...but narrowing down to the town is insane. you should make a rule to elimate any comments talking about specific location. so really your site doesnt ensure legitamacy at all because people can lie about it, but again when someone tells the truth, their spot gets blown up. that link is a perfect example. I know youve killed your fair share bit maybe a dry spell might explain your cranky self.I always thought there was someone here who says they hunt with a trad bow off the ground as a means to have an excuse why they cant seal the deal. not saying you, just recalling a reference doc made about those with standards. by the way, do you think that kid is happy everyone knows he shot that giant on redman rd.? nyantler
LOL... attacking how I hunt? That kind of thing only comes from a desperate person that gauges his hunting by how many deer he kills... unlike you I don't... sealing the deal as you say is not what I'm about... I haven't taken a buck with my bow in 13 years and it hasn't bothered me a bit... compromising on my personal goal would.. so unlike you I won't... taking a deer is easy.. I've done that ever year for 30 years... keeping a personal goal is hard and what makes it way more enjoyable for me... if I never take another deer the rest of my life makes no difference to me, but I'll still enjoy deer hunting just the same until I can no longer physically get out in the woods. You should try that concept sometime... you'll feel so much better. I did take a good buck last year in the ADK's to answer your question... but that really has nothing to do with what you were attempting to get out of me I'm sure.
