I have no idea what a Kindle even is, yet alone make some kind of an intelligent decision, LOL. Oh and for around $150, if that is possible! phade
Kindle is Amazon owned so pricing will be straightforward. One thing to look at is tablet size 7" doesn't sound much smaller than say a 10" model, but it has significantly less viewing area. Make sure if she gets the 7" or "mini" tablet size - that it is indeed what she needs. Some people want the smaller more portable version, but some find the screen too small. Deerthug
Try BJ's wholesale club. I've seen it a couple bucks cheaper there around this time of year.
landtracdeerhunter
Thanks for the input. Seeing that time is short, I'm heading to BJ's to pick up my Christmas present so I'll check them out. See what the price difference between the 7 and 10". Elmo
As a device which its main purpose is an e-reader, my wife prefers it to be smaller. Don't like having to hold a big tablet up for hours on end reading a book. Also nice to throw it into any purse she decides to carry around for the day. landtracdeerhunter
Thanks Elmo! Ended up buying the HD 7" for $137+ tax at BJ's. Only thing is it's 8GB. She change her mind, said she wanted 16GB. today. Opps oh well, Santa already wrapped and packed it. Now I find out Best Buy has it for same, with a $20 gift card. Might be going back after all. Wrapping paper's cheap, LOL.
shawnhu
Wife has the first generation kindle, won it at some kind of online give-away. She loves reading her free books on there. She has the free 3G Internet version. Most of my learning is from doing and watching, so watching videos on an iDevice suits me more. But if she enjoys reading, Kindle is the way to go. Found this out last night. Funny how the sales people don't know much about the product they sell. They are all wi fi but,it nice to be able to hard plug if needed. The sd port was a major factor in the purchase. It's also has a camera built in, but people don't rate it very well for quality. She opened it this morning with a big smile and a big hug for yours truely, LOL..
Lawdwaz
I got my wife an Ipod 2 but I think we are returning it for an Ipod Air. A little faster an maybe a better camera. (that she'll never use......) I was also surprised and disappointed to see they don't have SD card slots. It would have been the cats azz for checking trail cam pics. IT guys: How come they don't do that??
