That is funny Elmo, even though the big foot thing is old. I was thinking too small for woodpeckers but maybe big enough for owl?

I don't believe there are flying squirrels in that area but who knows, after 5 yrs on that land i am still learning

A circular hole like that in a tree is almost certainly made by a woodpecker.

No telling what lives in it now, though.. Many other species of birds and animals nest in old woodpecker holes.

It's similar to ground burrows. Woodchucks dig most of them, but many other animals such as skunks,possums, foxes and rabbits use woodchuck holes for shelter or a place to raise a family.

Flyers are mostly nocturnal so you wouldn't probably even know . They're around more than most people think.
