hi all new to this site but I have been reading many interesting posts and pics many of u have shared. I am an avid hunter although haven't taken a deer in several years. I have hunted the same tree stand for about 3 years now and although the last two years were very productive with both sex of deer this year I haven't seen one deer. I have seen many on my trailcam but they are all before legal hunting hours. Any suggestions? It seems they have all gone nocturnal since opening day. Best of luck to you allin the woods

Welcome Lisa.  Tough not to burn it out when you have only one stand.  If possible, I would try to add some other options so that you are not over-pressuring that one spot.  Absent that, just be sure you have the right wind for the stand and entry.  Good luck.

Welcome. As moog5050 said, be cautious of the wind. Keep at it, as you should well know deer hunting is a game of patience and timing. How is the pressure where you are hunting? Is enough to actually make the deer change habits?

Hunting from one stand is tough . If the wind isn't in your favor you could be giving yourself away to the deer's super nose . Even playing the wind can be tough . I am still seeing several deer on the trail cams at night and then not seeing anything during the daytime hours . No doubt many crops having been harvested affect the deer travel . None of the corn has been taken down around here and I would wager that the deer are probably laying out in those fields filling their stomachs and laying back down .

 

Try putting up another stand , ground blind , etc and maybe your luck will change .

The deer will tend to be in and around the crop fields right now. The availability of corn and soybeans, and farmers cutting those crops, make them a natural magnet for any animal trying to put on fat for the winter. If you have a spot that you can hunt near those fields, all is good. If you don't have such a spot you're kind of waiting for random deer that might walk through a particular area. In another week or so those 'random' sightings will become more frequent as the rut heats up and they start to travel more during daylight hours. Lots of us deal with it every year. All I can say is be patient and don't burn out the spot you have. Pick the right conditions next week and stay on guard all day.
