growalot
Did you see on the news that the Democratic party sent out letters to democrats with low voting records? Now if I have this right...it said who you vote for is private...but whether you voted or not is PUBLIC record and we will be reviewing the counties voting records...you need to go vote....really ya They got a bunch of angry calls...ppl saying they felt threatened and some saying it was making them re-think votes....WOW Go Vote...they are watching YOU!....lol PS Cuomo denies any previous knowledge of this....all politicians should have to have that phase on their grave stones as public record..... growalot
found it...... The mailing starts out by saying "Who you vote for is your secret, but whether or not you vote is public record." It ends by telling Goebel that they will be reviewing the official voting records after the election to see if she voted and "if you do not vote this year, we will be interested to hear why not." She says, "The very last paragraph is the one that did it for me and I don't really think that I need to be accountable to anyone about my voting or not voting." Apparently Goebel is not alone. Democratic Party leaders say they've been hearing from many of voters who felt the same way. Monroe County Democratic Party Chair Dave Garretson says, "People were upset and I completely understand why." Garretson says the idea behind the mailing was laudable, but says it was terribly worded and poorly executed. He says, "I think it was unfortunate. If I personally had the ability to go to everyone's homes and retrieve that letter, I would." Now could the mailing backfire? Goebel says the letter has motivated her to vote, but she indicated it has also convinced her to vote a different way. Governor Andrew Cuomo was asked about the mailing during an event in Syracuse on Friday and reportedly said he hadn't seen the mailing, but said there was nothing new about it and didn't see how it could be bad to tell people to exercise their franchise. coonhunter
My wife got a phone call of the same ilk on Sunday. When she was done speaking, some poor soul hung up with his ears burning. Needless to say, Astorino will be getting her vote in a short while.
Sogaard
Just a FYI, voter history has always been public record and the state / county Board of Elections get hundreds, if not thousands, of requests for voter history every year. philoshop
An act of desperation. Wait 'til 2016 and see just how low they can go. "The sheeple are revolting, your highness. Oh what shall we do?"
