Republicans Regain Control of the NY State Senate

Recommended Posts

I think it will get worse for gun owners, because the legislature in NY is anti-gun, Dems and GOP both, and they have an agenda that will make owning a gun in NY nearly impossible to tolerate.

I also think taxes will go up, spending will go up, and freedom and liberty in NY state will go down.

That's a lot worse.

I'm not so sure we can even rely on NY Republicans.  They sure put the screws to us already once.  Best I think we can hope for is they slow things down a little.

On the other hand for the amount of money spent and the name recognition, ol' Andy really didn't do too hot.  Maybe that'll help the Senate find their balls and stand up to that rotten little thug.

I'm having one of those days where - got to wonder with all the kids grown up why it is, I stay in this d|(& sore welfare state.

I'm wondering why I stay and let the kids get any bigger before I finally take them to one of the free states.

Guy was burglarized about two weeks prior, they found a bunch of his stuff at one of the suspects home. Guys was so poor, he couldnt afford water or electricity,  so the county took his home from him as well. Case study in why this states pistol permit laws are so messed up, if he couldnt afford water and electricity, how was he going to afford to register the family heirloom his late father left to him? By all accounts, he would have passed the background check, he just couldnt afford the process financially.

County DA said it was inappropriate to charge him with a felony,  if anything he would only go misdemeanor as he was just defending himself in his own home. Sheriff didnt even want to arrest him. Troopers got involved and threw the book at this poor man.

I know the law is the law, but what the hell happened to prosecutorial discretion? It sounds like the damn pistol never left the house, and would have never left the bedroom had his life not been threatened.

"Acting Supreme Court Justice Thomas McNamera’s decision, dated April 30 and received by the plaintiff’s counsel on Monday, directs the immediate release of 15 categories of information related to the state registry, including detailed geographic breakdowns (including county and ZIP code) and the number of applications as opposed to actual registrations. The FOIL also asks for the number of pistols and shotguns as well as rifles that were registered as assault weapons pursuant to the SAFE Act."

Stocker is opposing Mark Grisanti who got voted out of the republican party and is running as an independent. Grisanti voted for the safe act, killed the dove bill, and sponsored multiple laws designed to punish dog owners. Grisanti is currently the chairman of the senate environmental conservation committee and in such a position he decides what hunting-related legislation gets moved for a vote and blocks whatever he pleases to.
