LI OUTDOORSMAN
I'm shooting an Excalibur Matrix 310 with Illum. diablo arrows with the Factory Boltcutter 150 grain broadhead. First shot this year had a doe at 10 yds perfect pass thru, she ran 20 yds and died.. A week later I get a nice buck at 20 yds and also what I thought was a good pass thru shot resulted in a non vital hit and a lost deer. I'm thinking if I switch to a wider cutting diameter mechanical I will get better chances at hitting the vitals and leaving a better blood trail. I have heard good and bad things about mechanicals on crossbow arrows Anyone got any feedback on Rage Crossbow heads from the field with my particular setup? TheFieldArcher
Use the Rage 2 blade with the 2" cutting diameter. Make sure you use the collars correctly, I see guys lining the blades up incorrectly on the collars. The Rage heads are expensive and do an excellent job but I get the same results with the Rocket/Trophy Ridge Hammerhead 3 blade with 2" cutting diameter, just use 2 bands on the blades, they sell for around $25.00 a 3 pack!
