beachpeaz Posted November 24, 2014 Share Posted November 24, 2014 Styrofoam coaler with dry ice. Duct tape the crap out of it so it doesn't get opened. Make sure that the meat is frozen prior to packing it. It will ship just fine. Dry ice will last easily 5 days, and since it is already frozen, you can get over a week out of it. That's the way to go. you pay for the weight of course, but still cheaper than grocery store beef when it's all said and done. Consider maybe bringing it on the plane during travel? beachpeaz Posted November 24, 2014 Share Posted November 24, 2014 I own a business and we ship millions of dollars through UPS and FedEx a year. It depends on where it is going. It can be a longer shipping time to CO than CA simply due to "remote shipping" It is standard 5 days ground to most California locations. You can always pay for either a express delivery (which is more money, but chepaer than next day) or pay for a Saturday delivery to give you a 6th shipping day. I will regress to what I said before, prepared properly (frozen, packed well and put in the proper cooler with dry ice), it will still be frozen upon its arrival. Keep in mind also you are shipping during winter, so it is all "cold storage" while on their vehicles!! Its not like it will be sitting in a 90 degree truck for a week. And to Belo's comment, yes, you can take it on the plane. I've done that many, many times. There are ZERO regulations about transporting meat on a plane. if you are flying, pay the extra $25 or $50 "baggage" fee and just bring it with you. its better than next-day, it is same day! This ^ Have friend who has shipped us wild caught haddock and salmon from AK this way. It comes from Kodiak , AK so that itself adds time to the mainland of AK .
