Hunting and DMP tags

I always try to draw a tag for 7m. But as luck has it I only get one every other year. I normally get stuck with a 7j. Now viewing the map there isn't a lot of state land there so what is one to do. I always asked myself what does the DEC expect me to do. For me that would be one heck of a drive. Eric

I dont think the DEC cares if you drive 1 mile or a 100 to where you hunt.No offense its just not part of their plan is all

Why apply for a tag you won't use? Send me your 7j I'll do my best to fill it.

Get out and beat feet now to try and talk to landowners for hunting next year. Go out and ask to yote hunt to get your foot in the door. Offer a hand this summer on a farm for just a weekend or two of hunting.  You can get alot of good hunting land this way. Farms are getting huge now a days and many will jump on your offer. You will get some No's but it only takes one yes!

I always get a tag either way to try and keep numbers up to show support in hopes my money is used in correct ways. All I'm saying is I would have to drive 2 hours one way, and I drive a truck, so I would be at $200 gas bill for the weekend, and I didn't see much state land so how many people are crammed into one area making chances at a kill slim.

I know the state land I hunt is in 7J,but irishredneck is right.If you wont use it dont get it.

Every year there's a swap thread on here.  Watch for it and maybe you'll find someone who needs a 7J.  You do realize that by getting a 7J you don't plan on using, someone else who lives there can't get one right?

You could get 7 J tags on 11/1 -5. No one who wanted one was turned down
