Quality Compact 3X9 Scope

One of my hunting buddies hunts whitetails with a Rem M 7  S/S  in 7mm08.

 

He loves the little rifle and currently has a 2x7 Leupy VX-II on it...  He wants a little more magnification to help him deal with PA antler restrictions, but he doesn't want to ruin the nice handling qualities of his rifle by saddling it with a full size 3x9x40MM  variable...

 

Any suggestions for a quality compact 3x9 ?   He doesn't want junk and he's willing to pay for quality.

I was incorrect on the weight, it is 9.3 oz.

Very fond of my Bushnell 3 x 9 x 30 Elite 3200 with Firefly on my ML.  Wasn't expensive but nor cheap

Nikon Buckmaster. Nice scope for a good price I run with a few of them have had 0 problems ever. I also have a pro-staff and it to is nice. Specs on both are very much the same.

He loves the little rifle and it has been his main whitetail gun for several years now.
