Lawdwaz
I never heard of it but I don't spend much time that way. Gman may know something about it. Good luck!!
G-Man
It's a good area, close to lot of other state land as well, harwood lake is connected to it, and case lake is close by as well as hanging bog /cranberry hollow. Red
The past two year's I've hunted it every weekend i didn't see much for deer this year but that was my fault for hunting a stale stand most of deer season. There's plenty of deer bear coyote and grouse there. Between last year and this year i didn't see a single squirrel. There's a few nice places for sale right near it on north and south center road. mlammerhirt
How is the fishing in hardwood lake? Good access from the shore or is a boat needed?
hunter49
How is the fishing in hardwood lake? Good access from the shore or is a boat needed? The Dec. stocks it with trout & the fishing can be good from boat & shore. If you fish it check the regs. book I believe there may be special regs for harwood & case lakes.. Also behind the lake & across the back rd. the woods gets into nice hardwoods once you get through the pines. Years ago the state lands around there were all hunted hard but not so much anymore, mostly locals after the first week. Centerville & Freedom were my stomping grounds for 35 + yrs. until all the land leasing started.
G-Man
Can use boat only paddles, oars or electric motors. Case lake is hatchery dump and gets large breeders end of season. Shore access is good , outflow is best at harwood in my experiance. There are lots of small parcells of state land along with the large areas. Seen some nice deer taken off the state land around here every year, turkey and grouse as well if you put in the time.
