Well the elder hunter next door showed up...He never hunted last year ..fell very ill...We had a nice chat and he mentioned he needed rocks...well can I help you!...I'm running out of places to put them and I raked up a lot......so I'll load them up in the Gator and dump them near his drive...then when he's here and can tell me exactly were he wants them I'll spread them out with the York rake ....I try to help him out while he's here...never ever asked to hunt his place...he's been a good neighbor....I have asked for first option to buy should that come up.....Win win...damn rocks!!!...lol

I dug one up out of my garden last year that was so BIG, it took 2 of us to load it into the wheelbarrow.

My property shows evidence of glaciers. There's a glacial erratic the size if a minivan in the creek bed next to the garden. Last year, my 42" tiller managed to pick up some rocks just the right size to wedge between the tines & cast iron chain case breaking off 3 tines. I've used that tiller off & on for the last 25 years & that's the 1st time that's happened.

I use to take the guards off my rear time tillers...easier to clean rocks out...until one rock way bigger than a soft back whizzed past my temple...THAT woke me up...guards stay on....BTW...raking plots..holy cow...hurts to breath...apparently some muscles have been missed at the gym!

Here is my main tiller set-up. I have a smaller walk behind Areins for cultivating.

Here is a short video clip of it breaking sod when I expanded the garden in the spring of 2013. That's my son in the seat. He loves operating the old Gilson.

They certainly don't make 'em like that any more. Cast iron 4-speed manual transaxle, 18 HP opposed flathead twin Briggs. Simple idler pulley "clutch" on the transaxle drive belt.

I bought the tractor used to mow my 2 1/2 acres in Indiana about 1991 or so. I bought the tiller a few weeks later later for $600. It had never been in the ground. That was 1/2 price of what it cost new. I left a single bottom plow, a small disc & a catagiry 0 three point hitch behind. I kick myself for that now.

The tires are filled W/ethylene glycol & there are 25# weights on both rear wheels. I have since taken the wheel weights off as I no longer plow.

It worked great for retrieving deer from the woods.

always good to help out neighbors.  you pretty much have to deal with them every day so one might as well have a good relationship with them.

 

one of my favorite pass times on the farm is "picking rocks" in fields we're going to plant!

....for those of you that know what I'm talking about I'm completely kidding.
