Well got up early and sat in hot tub on deck watched the sun come up and heard a few birds welcoming the sun, 2 sounded off from a known roost area to the south of me and 1 to the north, again a known area, the last on I heard was across the street not a typical traditional roost area, and is only the 3rd time in 4 years I have heard one roost there, I have been doing a lot of timber/habitat management on that side last 4 years and if it continues to roost and gobble from there it adds a new place to get after them early.... guess the management is starting to pay off.. oh and the view isn't to bad either!post-899-0-96580600-1429182233_thumb.jpg

Doing some scouting today and tomorrow hard to find time with my job but was at the top of my hill and heard a hen yelping her head off non stop for a good 5 minutes then I found out why a tom gobbled about 70 yards in front of me the hen got closer and and he gobbled one more time then they both went silent. Caught a glimpse of the bird. Looks like a good size long beard

I finally got out to scout behind my brothers on Sat. morning. Didn't hear a bird although in their defense it got foggy and I know fog screws them up. I was really hoping to hear some birds as last year during late deer season i saw a good size flock of turkeys and was hoping they would be in the area this spring. It was nice seeing so many birds last fall as the last few years the numbers have been decreasing. . Oh well, next time out I will be toting a 12ga. :DuckHuntingSmiley:

Looks to be cold, but snow is out of for cast by me. Spot across street looking very promising as last sat while planting apple trees, a tom ,3 Jakes and a hen were parading around in cornfield 70 yards from me . At 11 am. Some scouting this week and then roosting on fri, taking friends son out on his 1st hunt sat am, hoping he gets down early enough on fri to roost with me.

Went out listening yesterday at camp. Wind was dead calm and I could hear for a long ways. Sat until 7 & not one gobble. Strange, on a nice clear morning. I hope things change by the weekend for my kid. Come to think of it, I haven't been seeing them around camp at all. None in the usual fields or along the road. No sign up on the ridge, where usually there's all kinds of scratching. I hope there wasn't some big winter kill in the area or something.
