sailinghudson25
Anyone seen a article on this. Looking to learn the forest better. Knowing what deer enjoy eating the most would be real helpful. Also, it would be real helpful when it comes time to improve your hunting spot, or prevent you from making the spot worse by removing it. growalot
Not sure what your looking for spring, summer,fall...preference on any wild plants depend on your growth and soil conditions. I will not totally remove honey suckle ,dog wood, and autumn olive. I look forward to seeing elder berry brush ,poke weed poison ivy in some areas. Most wild trees except popular...only young ones are good for deer and grouse...30ft. and they get cut to sucker. Certain herbs stay for they are good protein and help in natural worming...read up on wild herbs....All wild berry stay.red,blackberry..May Apple's goose and currents, bearberry,cohlish...all nut trees stay. Many wildflowers stay, cone flower, jewel weed, tansy, bee balm 500ft etc. Edited August 9, 2015 by growalot
landtracdeerhunter
Don't forget the sumac. Deer feed off the blossoms in late winter.

sailinghudson25
I read wildlife and woodlot management by monte burch. It's from the late 90's, but has great info. Just would like some specifc northeast info. Especially particular species of bushes, there's a huge variety and you don't always see them when their in bloom either.
