If I find one identical to one I want to know the price on, I put it on my "watch" list and see what it actually sells for. They can ask anything, but it's actual sales that determine true value. You can use the "gun values" book for insurance purposes, but to sell or just know - it's worth what people are actually willing to pay for it.
