Water Rat
I can't decide which one to buy.....any suggestions / comments would be appreciated. Thompson Center 22-250 Or Weatherby 22-
jjb4900
my only experience with the two is a TC Venture I have in .308 and a Weatherby Vanguard my Father had in 22-250...........if it were me, I would go with the TC, wasn't overly impressed with the Vanguard....But I doubt you could go wrong with either. DirtTime
Yeah............Vanguards are made in Japan (what else is new)? Doesn't Savage Arms have a factory in Canada? How do your know where the gun was made? Does it say on the imprint if was made in the USA or Canada? Maybe the serial number has something that says where it was made. Lotta people swear by Franchi guns, which if I remember right were bought out by Beretta ( another well renowned name ) and are manufactured in Italy. On another note, didn't our US Military change from the Colt 911 to the Beretta M9 as the standard issue service side arm? Turkey makes some great guns as well. I have a Howa, which is more or less the Vanguard, it handles, shoots well, cycles great, and is pretty damn accurate. I don't see the big deal on where the gun was made. wmig2
Vanguard is the low end Weatherby model. I would suggest you look at Tikka models. I have two Tikka T3's. One in 308. and one in 243. They both shoot very accurate.
Buckmaster7600
Never held a venture but had a vanguard and the fit and finish was beyond poor, and was never impressed with the way it shot. I have a Ruger American in 22-250 and its a shooter. I don't like the stock and the stupid trigger but the thing shoots 3/4" groups all day. chiefbkt
I have a T/C venture in .300 WSM and it shoots awesome. I'm sure the 22-250 when matched with the right ammo would be just as good. I've never been a fan of Weatherby other than the Mark V. I have a Savage model 12 22-250 and love it. Can cover groups with a dime at 100 yards. Probably about the same price as the T/C. Edited December 24, 2015 by chiefbkt
