Are you looking for a hunting lease? Somewhere you and your group can 'call your own'?

 

Cotton-Hanlon is going to be publishing the list of available hunting leases on March 1, 2016 at 7:30 AM. We will have leases ranging in size from 20 acres to over 600 acres. 

 

Check out our website http://www.cottonhanlon.com/#!hunting-leases/c16gkto see the complete list and details on March 1st. Make sure to check first thing in the morning as they go fast.

Yes all the leases this year are in NY.

 

Biz-R-Oworld,

All the land we own to to the west of those counties you listed.

I can't give too much away but here's a quick list of the counties where we'll have leases available:

Chemung

Cortland

Oswego

Schuyler

Steuben

Tioga

Tompkins

I don't think the prices are that bad. I lease from C-H. It is NOT just a hunting lease. It is year round use.  My lot is around 110 acres

So your paying about $25 and acre?

 

This is a couple years old so maybe your not too far off maybe high 10-20%

 

I just can't figure why lease rates in NY are so high. When comparably land prices are cheaper than most places. And NY deer hunting is not comparable to cheaper places like Kansas, Kentucky...Then again Ohio and Iowa are high, high, high!

 

I guess I should just pull the trigger and buy land and lease half of it to pay the payments!

one word......................taxes. Basically the leases cover their tax costs. I would imagine it is averaged across all their property to make it easy. I think mine is around $25 and acre.

I pay $25 per acre property taxes on wooded land with no structures or road frontage in Cortland county. If I leased the land, I would have to pay taxes on the lease income. I would have to charge $30 per acre to break even. We come to N.Y..

      I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas?       Hi Everyone,
      My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
