Trapper education courses

I wanted to get into trapping but I have not be able to locate any local trapper education courses in NYS southern tier area. How do they expect someone to drive nearly 170 miles for an 8 hour class. Does anyone know if I can get a certificate from Pennsylvania and be able to buy a trapping license in NY? I have PA classes offered within 30 miles of my house.

Where area are you coming from?  Not sure what southern tier means to you.   But i took my trapping course in walkill which is in ulster county.

I'm having the same issue. I'm located in Queens and only found one come around that I had a prior obligation and couldn't attend.

I am in central NY on the southern border. I am located just south of corning near the PA border. The closest in NY is 170 miles away.

I can't remember how I found out about the course I took. Maybe if you call some local fish and game club's they can help you out. Usually they're the ones who host the courses.

This time of year you'll probably be limited since trapping starts in like a week

I was looking over the summer and ran into the same problems. They had 2 offered within an hour and half but were filled. Doesn't seem like there are many offered. If I took the PA one would it allow me to get my trapping license in NY? They used to honor bow and hunter education certificates.
