Is it just me or has the weather so far killed the season. I took the first week off of work so I could be sure to tag out. Today was the first deer I have seen and only saw the dreaded White of the tail as it ran off.

Here in Western NY the conditions were perfect to still hunt. High winds, blizzard conditions. Perfect tracking snow. Got a doe and an 8 pt. Saw lots of deer. When the conditions are bad after a warm spell... Great time to be on the ground, moving.

Well where I'm stuck hunting for the next few days I have very little chance of seeing anything. 5 acres of woods right behind the house because I don't have anyone to sit with the kids. Older 2 I'm ok with going out and walking the loop or sitting they are old enough to be in the house for a little while but after tomorrow the 3 year old will be there and that's not gonna happen. Lol

I shot a nice 6 point & doe in 4o on Saturday, temps were near 70f though. Buck was with a doe. Got lucky I guess. My other 3 friends didn't see much activity after hunting 3 days.

Temps here on Sunday when I shot my doe was about 26 degrees. Winds...gusts to 50 mph. Up this high...2,400 foot elevation. Balmy:rolleyes: My buck this morning...24 degees, winds only gusting to 30 mph.

I hunt 3k/3m, in sullivan county near PA border, I haven't seen any rut activity what so ever.  In 3m I hear stories but sometimes I feel those are like fish stories, and overly exaggerated.

I havent seen anything larger than a 3 point.

Keep at it guys and girls!  Sometimes if I did not have other hunters with me I would say the same about no action.  Sometimes you have to be in the right spot to see it!  All to often I will have no action at all but my buddy 200 yards away sees bucks chasing doe for over an hour!  Peak rut is now but doe that come into heat late can change things in an instant!  Don't give up and good luck!
