Gun Control Advocates Find a Deep-Pocketed Ally in Big Law

You should immediately send these superheroes all of your money. They deserve it. Maybe set a few bucks aside for that Nigerian prince that needs his check cashed though.

All the wealthy lawyers in the world aren't going to upset a bedrock principle of the Constitution, and wishing it so won't make it happen. Without a SCOTUS stacked with liberal activists, the Constitution will stand as written.

They fail to realize support for the 2nd A was a big part of the total Leftist defeat in this election.  The people have decided by a big majority, the 2nd A is needed as it was written.

To many good people saw the government sick the dogs on them in the last 8 years, knowing the only thing left to protect themselves is a firearm.

OBAMA WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE GREATEST GUN SALESMAN THAT EVER LIVED!!

I'm sure Trump's Attorney General will shut these legal idiots down with a pro 2nd A DOJ anyway.  Heck, Holder and Lynch abused their power to the point of committing crimes.  Lynch even took the 5th in from of a hearing committee.

I don't think any of these social justice lawyers will get anywhere with their plans to destroy a constitutional right by suing anyone who exercises that right.

For some this election was about the second. I have a neighbor who I think only voted for trump because Hillary hates guns. The left is not really winning this fight even in hearts and minds. If you look at Gallup polls of people on gun rights the left is not doing terribly well. In the past 8 years we have had two pivotal SCOTUS decisions supporting the second plus another supporting decision from the SCOTUS earlier this year (taser case). Once trump throws another justice in asap plus most likely 1-2 additional throughout his term the SCOTUS will be poised to support gun rights for another 10-20 years at least during which they will have more cases thus piling on more precedent to protect the second.

Hillary's mistake was, for once, being honest about something--her view on guns: had she lied about them she may have won and could have snuck in an anti-gun justice or two in her first term.

The group’s talking points are a rehash of the arguments gun control advocates have used for decades. They claim Second Amendment is “an important part of our Constitution, and we don’t take issue with responsible gun owners,” but gun owners in California, Connecticut, and New York can tell you exactly how well gun rights are respected in those states. They further argue they want to address the “epidemic of gun violence” despite overwhelming evidence of falling crime rates.

Fortunately for Second Amendment advocates, these firms have been defeated in the past. Covington & Burling, representing the District of Columbia, lost the landmark Supreme Court case, District of Columbia v. Heller, which held that the right to keep and bear arms was an individual right guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Their legal strategies have a similar track record of failure. Anti-gun groups using the Environmental Protection Agency to ban lead ammunition were defeated in federal court in 2014. In October, attorneys pushing a tortured interpretation of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) were handed a defeat by a Connecticut Superior Court.

As to what motivates these firms, it isn’t high-minded altruism. They stand to profit enormously if they can win lawsuits. Attorneys collected more than $8.2 billion in legal fees when the four largest U.S. tobacco companies settled lawsuits brought by the attorneys general of 46 states. These firms are counting on the sheer financial burden of defending lawsuits to bring gun manufacturers to the settlement table and score a financial windfall.

Brings new sunlight to the term 'judicial activism'. Leftists know they can't win hearts and minds any more, so they focus their energies on the judicial system and the concept of 'sue and settle'. It's been very effective with the Eco-Nazis in their dealings on behalf of the EPA bureaucracy for the past several years, and the Climate Scientologists are leaning that way as well.

It won't stop without some serious tort reform in this country at every level of the judiciary.
