fasteddie
20 years ago today we had that nasty Ice Storm . I remember waking up in the middle of the night hearing loud cracking sounds only to look out and see tree limbs breaking . We lost power for a few days but had a wood stove , coleman lanterns and candles . Had a few folks stay with us as they had no heat . I went in to work at Xerox and did $1500 worth of damage to my van . Didn't even get a thanks for showing up . The Union guys were given a $50 Wegman's Gift Certificate and we management got zip . Less than 25% of the workforce showed up .
Lawdwaz
Until that storm, I killed my fair share of spring gobblers on the west side (east facing) of Canadice Lake. After that storm, as far as I was concerned, they could die of old age . That was quite a storm. My uncle has some property south of Hunt Hollow and also east facing and that was HAMMERED also. We had our own version of an ice/snow storm here in the Buffalo area in October of 2006. That one did a bit of damage also!

FULLDRAWXX75
I remember that very well, a friend of mine owned a construction company and did logging as well. He and his crew loaded up every piece of equipment he owned and worked out there for nearly 6 months doing clean up and other stuff as a private contractor for NIMO or some major company out that way........................ Hard to believe 20 yrs all ready. FDXX75
WNYBuckHunter
I remember that storm. I woke up in the middle of the night to trees falling into my father's pond and the snapping of limbs all around. We were without power for over a week. I made alot of money after that storm though, I had a chainsaw and cut up the fall downs and branches and trimmed broken trees for alot of people. We also collected up alot of the power lines that RG&E left laying in ditches, cut the insulation off and sold the copper.
