wooly
I don't know if those little reds will be up roaming around at 3AM. Not sure if this clip is telling enough to positively ID the little fella. Thoughts? BTW- this cam was over a carcass just out of frame. Only vid I got of this guy.
airedale
Looks like a flying squirrel and they do come out at night, I have seen them on my bird feeders in the middle of the night. Al
turkeyfeathers
Indeed a flyer. Nocturnal for the most part I do believe Saw a video awhile back of a high lift 100 feet in the air at a football field. Them little suckers would jump, soar and change directions that you wouldn't believe and scamper off into the bleachers.
wooly
Sweet! Never seen one of them around here that I know of, so I wasn't really sure. His tail looked kinda "flat" to me so I thought that might be a characteristic I could look into, and I heard about them being nocturnal so I sort of suspected that's what he may be. Good thing I had the Browning here or he would have got blown out by the flash! Love these cams for the other little critters! Got two hung at water level in a swamp yesterday to catch some wood ducks.
turkeyfeathers
Just a little FYI for anybody who set out "buckets of doom" to catch squirrels that are nuisance. Pull the bucket at night so you don't catch flyers by accident
Pygmy
Rocket J. Squirrel, at your service ! Was that video made near Frostbite Falls, Minnesota ? You didn't get a video of a dorky looking moose, did you ? " Nuthin' up my SLEEVE "..... Footnote... " NATASHA !! We must GET moose and SQUIRREL !! ".... stubborn1VT
Good eye on the tail Wooly. You'll notice it's narrow too. We have 3 juveniles that come to our bird feeder at night, but only when the weather is harsh. They're a hoot to watch. They had the hanging feeder spinning like a revolving door/ treadmill. There are lots more of them out there than people know. You just don't see them. Another reason that trail cameras are a cool and entertaining.
