Early bear season hunting hot spots in southern zone

Hey guys I'm looking for some good public hunting grounds in the southern zone to try and bag a black bear. If anyone has any pointers let me know thanks

Preferably in 3r or 3p

One thing I would do is look at the last few years bear take during the early bear season. I would focus on the areas that have produced good numbers the last few years. That's what I'm planning on doing at least.

3k may have bears but they are tiny there, so be careful. I think the weight limit was a minimum of 50 pounds needed.

And they have to be by themselves, last couple of years there have been guys that have shot cubs

Yea early season produces tiny bears for the most part and the though of shooting a cub makes me sick.  Gonna be tough finding anything decent. I have heard the numbers are exploding in the Catskills any of this true or just rumors?

100 percent true. The harvest numbers are also better in the Catskills. A better chance of getting a bear there than in the Adirondacks
