turkeyfeathers
Thoughts ? Non direct flight to New Orleans ,Louisiana. My Utah non resident gets me carry in LA. Staying with a good friend who will be our tour guide and knows where not to go in NOLA Little nervous about non direct flight . Direct flight would be less concerning. I know I need to have ammo separate and in original box. Need TSA locks on my hard side SKB case. Man , felt odd in trips to D.C. , Boston and Toronto not to have something on me. Took the Utah class to carry in states allowed but this flying thing worries me with it getting lost or stolen. Would be a paperwork nightmare I imagine. TACC
The biggest thing that I gave seen recently is that some airlines that are niw tagging the case indicating it has a firearm in it will now be brought to the lost baggage claim area do you have to sign for it after the flight. You Definitely Need to check with the airline what there current policy is.Their reasoning was that once you took receipt of the firearm and signed for it there liability was gone.Sent from my SM-G900T3 using Tapatalk

Nomad
Don't sweat it. I have Utah and Fla permits for the same reason . Yes it seems odd to be flying and out of state with your gun , but you're legal. Very little chance of the Airlines losing or it being stolen . As long as you're not changing planes in NYC , you'll be fine . They're real pric&s , if there is an issue with the plane or some sort of delay and you have to "claim " your luggage there they arrest you for having the gun in NYC, if it's checked right through you're fine . Side note when I was young and dumb , my friends and I backpacked all over the U.S. Always had loaded handguns driving across all kinds of state lines... I'm from NY in Colorado with a .357 I borrowed from a guy in Texas , true story . My daughter recently flew out West to hike , she carried a Swiss Army knife and pepper spray on the plane in her carry on . Returning she again walked on the plane with the knife and her bag was flagged . They said her water bottle had over 3 oz in it . Yes we had a talk about checking her day pack before ,for such items, but TSA are idiots . You could always ship it to a gun shop at your destination . I've been known to pick up a package at the front desk , but shipping to a gun shop makes it legal and all if that's a concern . I bring two packages to post office have them weight it and put postage on both. When I arrive I pick up,package 1 at front desk, when leave I have them mail the second pre stamped one .
