Canine distemper

This is the third raccoon In two weeks I’ve dispatched. The other two where walking in circles. This one still had some pep to it. This is the third year in a row I’ve seen this first it killed all the fox and now the coons. I think there getting it from all these stray cats around here.

Id call DEC so they can take a look an/or test the animal

I tried that when the fox started showing signs no one got back to me.

DEC will tell you to dig a hole and bury it with a gallon of bleach poured on it. That was my experience anyways

That’s what the animal control guy told one of the lady’s that work here.

No doubt its the cats. I used to live across from a trailer park that was a complete dump and there were a couple people that would get cats then just let them run wild killing all sorts of game and birds. Anyway we had a problem with them getting all goofy, had a couple die in the yard from what I could tell no real trauma. I was worried about our dogs so they got the shot, I ended up burning the carcasses in the woods. I didn't know about the bleach.

Had another raccoon go by me this morning,so I called the Dec wildlife dept. talk about blowing smoke up my butt next time I fart people are going to think I’m a muzzleloader!!!
