Never heard of this. Pretty bizarre! Has a regular stock in one photo, but assuming you wouldn't want to shoulder that cannon!!!

I remember seeing this for the first time on Ripley's Believe it or Not! They said they'd shoot something like 5 pounds of shot and the whole flock would go down. Obviously this couldn't be mounted to a shoulder so it was mounted to the boat. Wild stuff. Must have taken you for a ride once the trigger was pulled

James Mitcheners book "Chesapeak" discussed and told of punt gun use quite a bit. Apparently a fair number of guns/ boats and gunners ended up on the bottom of The Bay when they kicked the back out of the boat.
