Heres whats going on. doctors are very sure my dad has begining stages of dimentia.(find out next week for sure, hoping its not what he had but it looks alot like it) So he wants to make sure his guns go to us correctly.  His pistols are on my brothers license as well so those arent/shouldnt be an issue just the long guns.   I think its maybe 5 total 3 are 22s ones an older militray rifle not sure which one and i believe a shotgun.

Can he just gift them to me and i go to a local gun shop and get them transfered to me?

Just want to make sure i do it legally.  And god for bid it is dimentia we he wants to do it before he cant understand what hes doing. Thanks.

I agree if your not in the city you can just take the long guns....Pistols are another thing but if they are on your brothers permit your good to go...best of luck to you and your family.Horrible to deal with dementia is a hard thing to go thru for you and dad..
