Hunter shot and killed his partner before legal shooting hours. He plead guilty and received 6 months in the county jail, 512 hours of community service, order of protection issued barring him from contacting the victim's widow, and a lifetime ban on firearms ownership.

I wonder why the order of protection to stay away from the victim's spouse?  From what little the article gives, that one statement feels odd.
