What would trample down bramble?

Clearing a path and came across a patch of bramble that was flattened. Approx 25’ round and completely flat.   

Deer? Bear? Aliens?

That would make sense. I’ve seen deer bed there but this looks more like a crop circle. 

Too isolated for a random human. 

Very weird.

So, my wife is at the camp and decided to collect some berries with a friend. Hit the bramble and startled a large bear. 

She texted me ...  "we're going to need a bigger gun."
