Paula
here is where i hunt. last year on opening day of shot gun the guys were out on other land. ( stand ) i am about where X is on the ground. My question is should i maybe use a flash light to let him know i am there? I don't think they knew last year that i was until they walked out very close to me. Paula
was it that dumb?
Doewhacker
Do you know them? I would maybe just let them know where you will be to avoid any issues, or the flash light thing.
bowhuntersully
On the scale of dumb questions.... It was up ther pretty high. But honestly the map doesn't have a scale so we don't know your distance to the other hunters. If your in fear of being shot than my answer would be "HELL YES" and also "find another spot". Why would you position yourself so close? Is that a hot trail or something? Do your deer move more north-south or east-west?
Paula
don't know them, the land i hunt is not that big and with the rd and farm and houses i put myself where i feel is the best place for me. i figured flash light would be better than yelling " I am here !" mossy725
No deer is worth your life. Introduce yourself, and stay safe.
bowhuntersully
I agree with Mossy. Good luck Paula. Hope they scare a big one right to ya
Fantail
Flashlight option is a quiet signal. Nobody realy likes having their hunt interupted by someone else comming in but if your there first and they are not shmucks my guess is there's another spot for them to keep things safe. See, this is where I disagree. We are talking about two separate pieces of land. No sense in being passive aggressive about this one. Both landowners think they are entitled to hunt anywhere they can on their property (as they should). However, meet and talk with both parties involved, so somebody doesn't end up injured or killed. Come up with a plan, or at least know where all parties will be hunting.
ELMER J. FUDD
Use a green or red flashlight as well. I'm pretty sure one of them isn't seen to well by deer. Maybe some of the huntingny pro staff can confirm?
bushnell
I do the flashlight thing. If someone is walking by I shine my flashlight in their direction to let them know that I am there. Better safe than sorry.
Paula
I am looking for the guys address so i can stop over. Last year i only seen him at his stand on opening day. I like the flashlight idea or cell phone light but would really like to talk to him. thanks for the responses
the blur
I find hunting on state land has it's benefits, hunters KNOW other hunters are out there, so hopefully they'll be on the look out. but private land, hmmm, no one should be out there, so blast anything. brown, orange, yellow, don't matter.
