every year for as long as i can remember this type of stuff happens, everyone jumps and hollers about what an IDIOT the shooter was and how we have to change things, but in all honesty and not to lighten this type of situation "Nothing Changes"??

i've come to the conclusion that hunting is a dangerous sport and i accept that nowing very well that when i walk out to the woods in tha dark that yea something bad could happen.

there will always be that hunter who will take that really early shot, or the guy thats so hyped up on killing a deer that he is having hallucinations and seeing deer where there is a hunter, or the guy that heads out during rifle season in full camo. Nothing Changes, thats the way it is.

I have been shot at on multiple occasions.

The one thing i have figured out is i can only control what i do. That is why i choose my hunting spots, times, tactics, clothing and people i hunt with very carefully - at least for firearms.

That being said i know a guy that took a shot at a doe in a wide open field and missed. However she was at the crest of the field and the slug arched over the top of the hill and hit his hunting partner 350 - 400 yards away at the other end of the field (never broke the skin but when he was taken to the hospital they found the slug in his pocket).

Steve I red what happened to you, it sucks and all I can say is don't even begin to tolerate that crap. Show the guy your serious right out of the gate call an ECO straight away next time. I wont even bother with guy like that. I have every ECO for each county i hunt programed into my phone.

I said this many times. Orange or full camo, a human being does NOT resemble a deer, any way shape or form. I've seen deer walking 200 yards away, it's a deer. I've seen man in full camo walking 200 yards away through thick cover. it's a man, no question about it.

Your looking through a 3x+ scope, please don't tell me you thought it was a deer.

If you're going to try and make a clean ethical kill then you're aiming for the "boiler room" right behind the front legs. When you're trying to find those front legs and instead, you see arms holding a rifle, it should tell you that's not a deer! All these mis-ID accident occur because the a-holes are shooting at the general direction of a sound or blurred movement.

He should be charged with manslaughter, plain and simple.

If more hunters were charged with manslaughter (or attempted manslaughter if the victim did not perish), jailed for a few years, loss of hunting privileges for life and fined $10,000 or more - perhaps accidental shootings would stop.
