luberhill
It’s aimed at a well used trail and cross trail where every year there are scrapes and rubs .. I have only gotten a few die pics .. Should I still hunt this during the rut ? i saw a monster there last year and killed a nice 6 there couple years ago ... im the only one who hunts it and there are about 30 acres.. it’s tough hunting and thick and rugged
Robhuntandfish
Sounds like a good spot to me. Deer patterns will def change once the rut hits but if there is a trail that is used a lot, bucks will run it and smell for does. If it's near a thick area and deer are bedding there just need to sneak in quiet and play the wind. If does run it all season the bucks will be there too. And if it doesn't get pressure except from you that's a bonus. Deer will stay where they think it is safe and access to food.
luberhill
But I’m not getting any buck pics on my camera
G-Man
Just now, luberhill said: But I’m not getting any buck pics on my camera That's a good thing. If you were they would most likely disperse before season ,if past sign is there old rubs, scrapes, trails they will be there again. Fall requirements are different than summer nutrition and cover wise..
luberhill
So... maybe I’ll pull the camera tomorrow, set up my ground blind and brush it in ... and just hunt it when crossbow opens
grampy
I have cams out in a couple spots, that I don't expect to get buck pictures until early to mid October. Getting plenty of doe pictures now. This is in proven buck kill spots. But not one buck picture at this time.
Robhuntandfish
Same as grampy. I pulled cards from my spot in 6S this weekend and nothing but does on a 3 week soak. Yet this spot is where I have seen and taken my best bucks. Same last season had no buck pics til Oct.
